Pre-Hospital Examinations

If your treating physician has recommended hospital treatment

pre-hospital examinations are needed. The examinations may be done on an outpatient basis thus allowing your time spent in hospital to only be for your actual treatment.

The examinations are planned for your special proposed treatment.

1. Pre-examinations in the case of conservative (non-surgical) treatment

Two-three weeks prior to your hospital admission, the following tests are needed:

  • Laboratory tests (BEK 48 package)
    • Complete blood count, sedimentation rate, liver function (SGOT, SGPT, GGT), renal function (urea, creatinine), blood sugar, sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphate, alkaline phosphatase, total bilirubin, total protein, prothrombin, uric acid.
    • Urinalysis
  • ECG (electrocardiogram)
  • Chest x-ray
  • Complex ultrasound examination of the abdomen

2. Pre-surgery examination, insofar as implants are not needed

Two-three weeks prior to your hospital admission, the following tests are needed:

  • Laboratory tests, blood and urinalysis (BEK 46 package):
    • Complete blood count, sedimentation rate, liver function (SGOT, SGPT, GGT), renal function (urea, creatinine), blood sugar, sodium, potassium, total bilirubin, total protein, INR, prothrombin, CRP.
    • Urinalysis
    • Blood typing, antibody test
    • MRSA screening from nasal discharge
  • ECG (electrocardiogram)
  • Chest x-ray
  • Anesthesiological examination:  the anesthetist will determine your health condition and the risk of surgery on the basis of examination and your other examination results. The type of anesthesia to be used will be decided on the basis of this consultation.

3. Pre-surgery examination, insofar as implants will be needed

    • Urinalysis
    • Urine culture
    • Blood type, antibody test
    • MRSA screening from nasal discharge
    • ECG (electrocardiogram)
  • Chest x-ray
  • Complex ultrasound examination of the abdomen
  • Ultrasound examination of the neck or the lower extremity arteries
  • Anesthesiological examination:  the anesthetist will determine your health condition and the risk of surgery on the basis of examination and your other examination results. The type of anesthesia to be used will be decided on the basis of this consultation.

4. Pre-surgery examination - special spinal surgery - correction of spinal deformity

Two-three weeks prior to your hospital admission, the following tests are needed:

  • Laboratory tests, blood and urinalysis (BEK 47 package):
    • Complete blood count, sedimentation rate, liver function (SGOT, SGPT, GGT), renal function (urea, creatinine), blood sugar, sodium, potassium, total bilirubin, total protein, INR, prothrombin, CRP.
    • Urinalysis
    • Urine culture
    • Blood typing, antibody test
    • MRSA screening from nasal discharge
  • ECG (electrocardiogram)
  • Chest x-ray
  • Complex ultrasound examination of the abdomen
  • Ultrasound examination of the neck or the lower extremity arteries
  • Echocardiogram
  • Spirometry (respiratory function test)
  • Anesthesiological examination:  the anesthetist will determine your health condition and the risk of surgery on the basis of examination and your other examination results. The type of anesthesia to be used will be decided on the basis of this consultation.
