According to last year’s statistics, more and more women smoke and more and more women become ill in Hungary as the result of the side effects of smoking.
Data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office’s publication for 2013 show: between the years 2000 and 2007, in a population of one hundred thousand, the yearly diagnosed cases of cancer was around 700 for men and around 600 for women. The next rise lasted until 2011 at which time there were 800 cases for men and more than 700 for women. By 2012, the numbers rose in the case of women while in men, it began to decrease slightly.
In the developed world, as in Hungary, improper diet, lack of physical activity and smoking are the main causes of diseases and early mortality.
