MRI of the Head
Dear Patients!
We would like to inform you that due to hospital development work at our Királyhágó utca location, we will not be performing 1.5T and 3T MRI and CT examinations, nor root canal procedures that can be organized in the CT scanner, until August 31, 2025.
The radiological diagnostic center is scheduled to receive patients again from September 1, 2025.

Purpose
Changes occurring within the brain are best seen on an MRI. We can observe abnormalities of the various elements of the brain, veins and bony elements together with developmental variations, abnormal ventricles and certain primary and secondary tumors and possible bleeding.
Preparation
No special preparation is required. If intravenous contrast material is needed, you must not eat two hours before the examination. We will also need laboratory test results dated within two weeks of the MRI scan for kidney function.
The procedure
You will be asked to lie on your back in the machine. Images of the skull will be prepared usually in three planes and in various sequences according to protocols set for each disorder. The scanning takes 35-45 minutes, is not encumbering, but you will have to lie completely still throughout the process. The results will not be of a quality to be evaluated, should you move. You will also be required to fill and sign a consent form.
Contraindications
- Claustrophobia (ours is an open MRI making examination easier for the claustrophobic patient).
- Body size.
- Metal implant (except tooth replacement) - prevents imaging or endangers the patient.
- Pacemaker.
In case of allergy to contrast material allergy, the examination may be performed without contrast.
You will be given a written evaluation of the results and a CD containing the images.
