Udvarhelyi, Iván MD

Introduction

Iván Udvarhelyi graduated from Semmelweis University of Medicine in 1989. He acquired his qualifying exam in orthopaedics in 1994, and in traumatology in 1996, thus gained experience in the single entity of orthopaedics and traumatology, which he follows, and in the spirit of which he works. He has been working at Uzsoki Street Hospital, the very first employer of his, at the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology for 33 years, where he works as Head of Department. His main field of research is the biomechanics of hip and knee endoprosthetics. He took significant part in the introduction and education of minimally invasive hip and knee endoprosthetic surgeries in Hungary. Apart from the huge number of primary replacement surgeries, prosthetics of difficult primary cases (such as huge axis deviation of the knee joint, state after hip dislocation), reconstructive surgery of fractures near the prostheses, as well as  replacement and revision of hip and knee prostheses causing marked loss of bone tissue, all  have a heightened place in his professional surgical activity. His papers are published in Hungarian and international journals, and he regularly performs surgical demonstrations as invited operator in Hungarian and international institutes.
